                                                    Dear New Parents,

Congratulations on the birth of your new baby!  That's first and foremost the best and most exciting part of this journey you have just begun.

If you are reading this, it probably means you have received some unexpected news.  Just like you, in 2003, I also received that news.  Along with that news came many emotions, unanswered questions and uncertainties.  I like many, had heard of Down syndrome and had seen people in the community living with Down syndrome but knew nothing about it.  Knowing nothing about it, made it very scary for me.

Since the beginning of my journey, I have discovered so many wonderful things about people born with Down syndrome.  There are people living with Down syndrome in the world today with college degrees, driving automobiles, getting married, working and living full productive lives.  With high expectations, loving environments, and inclusive opportunities, your child will thrive.

Our organization was created by parents for anyone whose life has been touched by someone with Down syndrome.  We welcome you and wish you the very best, the possibilities for your child are endless.  Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have.

                                                    Sincerely,

                                                    Dianna J. Hansen
